Before You Reach Out

Common Questions

Answers to what most people ask before their first meet-and-greet.

  • 1. Do I need insurance to join Rural Authentic Wellness?

No. Rural Authentic Wellness provides primary care through a simple membership model. Instead of billing insurance, members pay a flat monthly fee directly to their provider for comprehensive primary care. You can keep your existing insurance and use your membership alongside it, or pair it with Zion or other healthshare options.

  • 2. What does the free meet-and-greet include?

It's a 30-minute conversation, in person or by phone, to go over your health goals, explain exactly how membership works, and answer any questions you have. There's no paperwork and no commitment required. You leave with information, not an obligation.

  • 3. What's the monthly cost?

Adult membership starts at $80/month. That covers unlimited primary and urgent care visits, same-day access, direct messaging, annual wellness exam, sports physicals, DOT exams, and deeply discounted labs. In-office procedures are available to members with supplies billed separately at a flat $50 fee. Additional services such as hormone therapy, aesthetics, and weight-loss programs are billed separately at direct pricing with no insurance markup.

  • 4. Can I use my HSA or FSA for my membership?

As of January 2026, DPC memberships became eligible for HSA use under new federal guidelines. This removes one of the most common objections patients had to joining. Ask us about this in your meet-and-greet for details specific to your plan.

For full HSA eligibility guidelines, refer to IRS Publication 969. We recommend confirming with your plan administrator before applying HSA funds to your membership.

  • 5. Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Virtual visits are available for members across Minnesota. If you're not local to Olivia or Redwood Falls, reach out, and we can discuss what telehealth membership looks like for your situation.

  • 6. How do I reach my provider when something comes up?

Once you become a member, you'll receive an email invitation to join Elation Patient Passport. Elation is your secure patient portal and is the primary way to communicate with your provider for medical questions, prescription requests, lab results, and non-urgent medical advice. It lets you stay connected with your care team and keep all your health information in one convenient place.

Members also have access to Spruce, our secure messaging platform. Spruce is best used for more immediate concerns, including acute illnesses or urgent health issues, sending photos of medical issues such as rashes, cuts, or wounds, scheduling or rescheduling appointments, and quick questions for the practice.

Our goal is to make accessing care simple and convenient. Whether through Elation or Spruce, you'll have direct access to a healthcare team that knows you and is committed to providing personalized, relationship-based care.
